Sample Course Plans

Based on the total number of units required for the MPH, we anticipate most students in our Epidemiology and Health Behavior concentrations will graduate at the end of Winter quarter of their second year. Because General Public Health concentration students will primarily come from health professional backgrounds and be able to waive 16 units of electives, most students in this concentration will graduate in one calendar year.

Epidemiology Concentration

The core competencies for the Epidemiology concentration are: a basic understanding of population distributions of diseases and injuries, characterization of risk and preventive factors, and implementation of appropriate research designs. Epidemiology draws on concepts of knowledge from multiple disciplines, especially clinical medicine, biostatistics, environmental health, and the social sciences.
