Making an Appointment

As of the beginning of Fall 2022, we will only be accepting advising appointments via YouCanBookMe.com. You must make your appointment through the YCBM system. There are two separate booking links; we suggest that you look first at the link for the advisor whose primary focus is your major of choice. Further instructions are below.

Academic Advising Appointments are most appropriate for students interested in long term planning, specific graduate school or career questions, or declaring a major or double major in Public Health. Students with questions regarding adding/dropping classes, P/NP classes, planning for the current quarter, or other simple tasks should send a Virtual Advising Center message or visit an advisor during Drop-In Hours (listed on the calendar below).

To book an appointment you will need your 9-digit PID (starting with A). Appointments booked without this PID will be canceled.

Appointments book up quickly, and may need to be rescheduled due to last-minute changes to the advisor's schedule. Appointments are typically released mid-week for the following week. Unless otherwise specified, appointments will take place virtually. You will receive confirmation of your appointment link via e-mail and/or in the Virtual Advising Center.

Submitting a Form

If you have a form to submit to the Public Health Advisors, you can do so on our Petition Submission Form. Please keep in mind that all forms are expected to be complete and correct; you should meet with an advisor before submission to ensure the completeness of your form.

Attention Students Wishing to Declare the Public Health Major

If you are not currently declared as a Public Health Major please fill out this Major Contact List Form.  This form is also to assist with the FMPH 40 waitlist.  If you are trying to get into FMPH 40 and are not a declared Public Health major, this list is the only way we know you are interested in enrolling in the course.

Please Note: All BSPH Majors are capped. Capped majors are majors with limited enrollment. Students who were not directly admitted into one of the BSPH Majors can still complete the Public Health Entry Requirement and declare a BSPH Major after meeting the entry requirement. Please see the Public Health Entry Requirement on our website for additional information.

All students wishing to declare a Public Health major should complete our online Public Health New Student Orientation modules prior to meeting with an advisor for the first time.

Current UCSD students must submit their questions via the Virtual Advising Center. Queries received via email or phone will not receive a response. Appointment requests must be made through YouCanBookMe.com (see above).

Prospective students, contact us at publichealth@health.ucsd.edu with your questions about the Public Health program.

Academic Advising Hours

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: All in-person advising services have been suspended until further notice.  Students who need assistance can contact Public Health Advisors through the Virtual Advising Center.

10-minute drop-in advising is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more in-depth advising including creating an academic plan, please make a 30-minute appointment with an advisor. If you are not currently a UCSD student, you may request an appointment via email (publichealth@health.ucsd.edu). We do not typically meet with students who have not yet been accepted to UC San Diego.
