Curriculum
The MPH degree requires completion of 64 units, and is comprised of core courses, concentration courses, and elective courses.
Core Courses (36 units)
- PH 400 - Introduction to Biostatistics (4 units)
- PH 401 - Introduction to Epidemiology (4 units)
- PH 402 - Introduction to Health Behavior (4 units)
- PH 403 - Public Health Research Methods (4 units)
- PH 404 - Introduction to Environmental and Occupational Health (4 units)
- PH 405 - Introduction to Health Policy (4 units)
- PH 406 - Scientific Writing (4 units)
- PH 496A - Public Health Leadership in Practice (1 unit) [Fall of 1st Year]
- PH 496B - MPH Practicum Field Placement (3 units) [Spring or Summer of 1st Year]
- PH 499 - Public Health Master's Capstone/Thesis (4 units) or PH 480 - Grant Writing (4 units)
Concentration Courses (16 units)

Elective Courses (12 units)
Elective course options include any MPH course offered that does not count towards a student's core or concentration requirements. Students can also fulfill elective requirements through independent study coursework (PH 498) and/or graduate level courses outside the department with approval of program director.
