    • PLEASE NOTE: Non-Majors requesting to use GLBH 20 in place of PH 40 for PH course prerequisites must submit an Enrollment Authorization System (EASy) request to enroll or waitlist. Priority enrollment for PH courses are given to students who have completed all course prerequisites without needing to request an exception to enroll through WebReg.

Core Public Health Prerequisites

Core Public Health Prerequisites

NOTE: Effective FA24, all BSPH Course Subject Codes have changed from FMPH to PH.

  • PH 40 – No prerequisites. Enrollment open to students with FR, SO, or JR standing.
  • PH 45 – Completion of PH 40 prior to enrollment. Enrollment open to students with FR, SO, JR, or SR standing.
  • PH 101 – Completion of PH 40 and PSYC 60, HDS 60, MATH 11, or COGS 14B prior to enrollment. Enrollment open to students with JR or SR standing.
    • Students with SO standing interested in enrolling must submit an Enrollment Authorization System (EASy) request to enroll in PH 101. Please note, priority enrollment for PH 101 are given to students with JR or SR standing.
  • PH 102 – Completion of PH 40 and PSYC 60, HDS 60, MATH 11, or COGS 14B prior to enrollment. Enrollment open to students with JR or SR standing.
    • Students with SO standing interested in enrolling must submit an Enrollment Authorization System (EASy) request to enroll in PH 102. Please note, priority enrollment for PH 102 are given to students with JR or SR standing.
  • PH 110 – Completion of PH 40 prior to enrollment. Enrollment open to students with SO, JR or SR standing.
  • PH 120 – Completion of PH 40 prior to enrollment. Enrollment open to students with JR or SR standing.
    • Students with SO standing interested in enrolling must submit an Enrollment Authorization System (EASy) request to enroll in PH 120. Please note, priority enrollment for PH 120 are given to students with JR or SR standing.
  • PH 130 – Completion of PH 40 and PH 101 prior to enrollment. Enrollment open to students with JR or SR standing.
  • USP 143 – No prerequisites. Enrollment open to students with JR or SR standing.
    • NOTE: Public Health has no control over registration for USP 143. If you have any problems enrolling, please contact the USP Department through the VAC. The USP Department does not respond to requests via phone or email.
  • PH 193 – Completion of PH 40, PH 45, PH 101, PH 102, PH 110, and PH 120 prior to enrollment. Enrollment only open to Public Health Majors.
    • NOTE: PH 193 is only offered in fall and winter quarters.
    • IMPORTANT NOTE: Completion of PH 45 is not required for students who entered UC San Diego before 2024. For the 2025-26 and 2026-27 academic years, students who entered in 2024 or later may take PH 45 concurrently with PH 193.
  • PH 194 – Completion of PH 40, PH 45, PH 101, PH 102, PH 110, PH 120, and PH 193 prior to enrollment. Enrollment only open to Public Health Majors.
    • NOTE: PH 194 is only offered in winter and spring quarters.
