Linda Hill, MD, MPH, is a Distinguished Professor and founding faculty of the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science, where she is also associate dean for community partnerships. She obtained her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Ottawa in Canada in 1978 and completed a transitional internship at McGill University in 1979. Dr. Hill completed her residency in preventive medicine from the UC San Diego–San Diego State University General Preventive Medicine Residency in 1985. She is a fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine. She was the founding medical director of the Exercise and Physical Activity Resource Center at UC San Diego at Qualcomm Institute. San Diego Family Care, a Federal 330 Community Health Center, is the site of her clinical activities, as medical director 1980 to 2001, and senior staff physician since 2001. She is the director of the Training, Research and Education for Driving Safety (TREDS), a nationally recognized driving safety center. She directed the Refugee Health Assessment program in San Diego from 2008 to 2020. She was the executive director of the Asylum-Seeker Shelter Screening and Stabilization Program from 2018 to 2025, providing medical services in collaboration with the Catholic Charities and Jewish Family Service in three shelters in San Diego and Imperial County. In addition to her teaching activities with the preventive medicine residents, she mentors and precepts medical students, masters students, pre-doctoral students and undergraduates.

Dr. Hill is the director of the Training, Research and Education for Driving Safety (TREDS) center. She and her team are engaged in transportation safety research addressing drug and alcohol impaired driving, distracted driving, older driver safety, technology and driving, commercial vehicle safety, railroad trespassing injuries, human trafficking preventions and employee fatigue. The team has current/past support from the California Office of Traffic Safety, AAA Foundation for Driving Safety, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Caltrans and the California Department of Cannabis Control. Dr. Hill conducts research on refugee and asylum seeker health and policies.
