Tracy Finlayson

Dr. Tracy L. Finlayson is an Associate Professor in the Division of Health Management and Policy. She is an interdisciplinary health services researcher with training in Sociology/Social Psychology. Her main areas of research are exploring the psychosocial determinants of oral health disparities, issues around access to dental care for vulnerable populations, and health policy.

Dr. Finlayson currently leads a project to develop and validate oral health survey measures. She is a Core Investigator at the Institute for Behavioral and Community Health (IBACH). She has previously been involved in evaluations of major state-level policy changes in Michigan and California. Prior to joining SDSU, she was an Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (AHRQ) Postdoctoral Scholar at UC Berkeley. In 2008, Dr. Finlayson received the Jay S. Drotman Memorial Award from the American Public Health Association (APHA), which recognizes the promising career of a young public health professional. In 2015-2016, Dr. Finlayson was an Isman-Fine Oral Health Leadership Fellow with California’s Center for Oral Health. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Share the Care/Dental Health Initiative.
